Legal Analyst
Bahriddini Sultan is a multifaceted legal professional at ADG Legal in Dubai, known for his broad cross-disciplinary expertise, commercial acumen, and ability to handle complex matters typically entrusted to senior lawyers. His practice spans corporate and commercial law, restructuring, banking and finance, private capital, real estate development, intellectual property, and Shariah related advisory work, allowing him to deliver integrated solutions across multiple industries and legal systems.
Sultan’s foundational focus lies in corporate structuring and restructuring, where he supports clients on joint ventures, cross-border arrangements, governance frameworks, investment structures, and regulatory strategy across the UAE’s principal jurisdictions, including DIFC, ADGM, DMCC, and mainland Dubai. Over time, his role expanded significantly due to his strong analytical capability and reliability, enabling him to manage and lead matters.
In addition to his corporate practice, Sultan has developed a strong concentration in banking and financial services regulation. He regularly assists foreign and domestic funds interested in establishing investment funds in the UAE or ensuring that their activities do not trigger licensing requirements. He also advises international financial institutions on the regulatory implications of operating within the UAE. Notably, Sultan played a key role in leading the establishment of a foreign financial institution and securing a regulatory license that had not been issued by the Central Bank for more than a decade – successfully obtained within just three months. This achievement required unwavering dedication, persistence, technical skill, and strategic engagement with regulators.
Beyond his corporate and finance work, Sultan’s background as a former real estate broker positioned him as a valuable contributor to the firm’s already established real estate practice. From the outset, he was encouraged to become actively involved in this practice area and to participate in its continued growth. Since then, he has assisted both new and foreign developers entering the UAE market, supported them in obtaining licenses, structured their development and JV arrangements, and advised on long-term real estate frameworks – including Musataha arrangements with government entities – and continues to contribute meaningfully to the expansion of the firm’s real estate offering.
During his academic years, Sultan cultivated a deep interest in Intellectual Property law, an area in which the firm has given him significant scope to grow. His work includes assisting clients with trademark registrations, advising on copyright issues, drafting and negotiating IP transfer and licensing arrangements, conducting IP due diligence, and designing contractual frameworks to ensure software houses maintain full ownership of code and technology created by employees and independent contractors.
Although educated in English law, Sultan has invested substantial time in developing his understanding of Shariah principles, with the firm supporting and encouraging this interest. He was part of a challenging inheritance matter where the standard procedural path appeared impossible to navigate. Through creative thinking, careful reliance on fatwas, and persuasive submissions before the court, the team achieved a highly favorable outcome – one which, in a common law jurisdiction, would likely have been considered groundbreaking.
Driven by an ongoing desire to expand his capabilities, Sultan continuously pushes himself beyond his comfort zone. He is committed to lifelong learning, refining his skills, and embracing increasingly complex challenges with the goal of delivering exceptional results for clients and deepening his knowledge across a wide spectrum of legal disciplines.
