Christopher Gibson

Associate

Chris qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales in July 2023 and made the move to Dubai one month later to join ADG Legal as an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department.

Chris completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Sunderland and was awarded First Class Honours. In the process, Chris was also awarded the Ede & Ravenscroft

Prize in recognition of being the highest-performing undergraduate student in Law.

Chris returned to the University of Sunderland to undertake a combined postgraduate degree in Legal Practice and a Master of Law. He graduated with a Distinction.

For his Master, Chris explored the extent of discrimination amongst Solicitors, the Bar, and the Judiciary throughout England and Wales. The Sex Discrimination chapter of his Master’s dissertation titled ‘The Legal Sector is yet to deal with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010’ was published in the UoS Law Journal.

In England, the bulk of Chris’ caseload consisted of acting for clients in the sale and purchase of residential properties. With regards to Litigation, he has acted for clients in landlord and tenant disputes – including seeking Possession Orders of rental properties and attending Possession Hearings at Court on behalf of landlords. Furthermore, Chris has experience in obtaining County Court Judgments in owed money claims.

Chris recognises the importance of attempting to negotiate (where possible) to avoid legal proceedings being issued given the stress, time and cost implications involved for all parties. Preserving relationships is also a key consideration surrounding disputes (particularly when it comes to family members and business colleagues). He has attended both online and in-person Mediation with clients (a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution) and successfully negotiated mutually agreed settlement terms.

Chris is a native English speaker.
