Ashton is a Partner in the firm’s International Disputes team and leads its fraud, asset recovery and insolvency work before the DIFC, ADGM and onshore UAE courts. She has sixteen years of experience in commercial dispute resolution, having practised as both an admitted solicitor and a barrister in South Africa before relocating to the United Arab Emirates.

She acts for clients in commercial and contractual disputes, restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy, rehabilitation matters and insurance matters. Her years at the Bar established her as a persuasive orator, able to reduce complex facts to clear argument in court proceedings and private arbitrations.

She is equally active in non-contentious work, negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts of every description. Clients value the time she takes to understand a business and the pressures upon it, which allows her to resolve the matter in hand and put safeguards in place to protect the client’s longer-term position. Ashton is fluent in English.
