Event Brief

Nowhere is the significance of climate change more pronounced than in Africa. Despite having the lowest per capita emissions and contributing only about 2.8% to global emissions, Africa faces some of the most severe climate-related challenges, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The UAE has emerged as a critical partner here, pledging $4.5 billion to support African clean-energy projects at the inaugural Africa Climate Summit last year. As we approach the annual climate talks this November, this session will evaluate Africa’s progress towards net-zero and climate resilience. Speakers will review the continent’s current climate outlook and discuss key agenda items for COP29 in Azerbaijan.
